Genesis Chapter 3 and Ezekiel 28 The World Before the Fall

Image
Creation Was Perfect, Ordered, and Without Corruption Before sin: Nothing died Nothing decayed No sickness or violence existed No predator/prey relationship No hostility between humans and creation God declared everything: “very good” (Genesis 1:31) Meaning flawless, complete, harmonious, filled with peace (shalom). 2. Humanity Shared God’s Glory Adam and Eve were not naked in a shameful way. The Ethiopian tradition says: Humans were clothed in light. Based on: Psalm 8:5 — “crowned with glory and honor” Psalm 104:2 — “He covers Himself with light as with a garment” Ethiopian commentary teaches: “The glory of God covered Adam and Eve like a garment.” After sin this glory departed, and they realized their physical nakedness (Genesis 3:7). 3. Angels and Humans Had Open Fellowship Before the fall: God walked with Adam and Eve (Genesis 3:8) Eden was a “mountain of God” (Ezekiel 28:13–16) Angels ministered freely The spiritual and natural realms were blended Ethiopian tradition calls Eden: ...

Genesis 1:2 — The Earth without Form and Void | In His Image Bible Study

Image
“And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.” — Genesis 1:2 (KJV)   Observation The verse does not yet describe the ordered and inhabited world that appears later in the chapter. Instead, we are shown the earth before God brings the arrangement, distinction, and fullness that unfold through His spoken commands. “Without Form, and Void” The Hebrew expression translated “without form, and void” is tohu va-bohu (תֹהוּ וָבֹהוּ) . Tohu carries the idea of formlessness, emptiness, waste, or an unformed condition. Bohu conveys emptiness or voidness. Together, the expression describes the earth as not yet ordered and filled in the manner that God is about to accomplish throughout Genesis 1. Darkness Was Upon the Face of the Deep Before God says, “Let there be light,” Genesis describes darkness upon the face of the deep. The Hebrew word translated “deep” is tehom (תְּהוֹם) , referring her...

Genesis Chapter 1- The Sun- Moon- Stars | In His Image Genesis Study

Image
Genesis 1:14 And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years: (KJV) These lights refer to the sun, the moon, and the stars. The Hebrew word for "lights" is ma'orot - meaning light bearers, not just light itself, meaning God created physical objects that carry, holds, and shine light. The sun and moon do not shine by accident - they shine because God assignes them purpose. Just like the lights, believers are light bearers (Matthew 5:14). We do not produce spiritual light; we reflect God's light Four Major Purposes for the heavenly bodies and reveals deep biblical, prophetic, and theological truths. *Purpose I To Divide the Day from the Night. Light existed (Day 1), but there was no organized system. God codifies time, day, night, morning and evening. Creation moves from chaos to order. The physical separation of day and night reflects a moral truth. ...

Genesis Chapter 1 — The Creation | Genesis Bible Study

Image
Introduction Genesis Chapter 1 opens the Bible with one of its most foundational declarations: “In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.” — Genesis 1:1 KJV Before humanity, nations, kingdoms, or civilizations existed, God was already there . Genesis does not begin by attempting to prove God's existence; it begins by declaring God as the Creator and source of all things . The chapter describes creation as moving from an earth that was “without form, and void” into an ordered world filled with light, life, purpose, and abundance. Again and again, creation responds to God's command: “And God said...” God speaks, and what He commands comes into being. Light appears, waters are divided, dry land emerges, vegetation grows, heavenly lights are appointed, living creatures fill the waters and skies, animals inhabit the earth, and finally humanity is created. The climax of the chapter comes in Genesis 1:26–27: “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness...” Human bei...

Genesis Chapter 13 - — Abram and Lot Separate | In His Image - Genesis Bible Study

Image
Genesis 13 continues Abram’s journey after his return from Egypt. Abram traveled back into the land of Canaan with Sarai, Lot, and the possessions he had acquired . Scripture emphasizes that Abram had become “very rich in cattle, in silver, and in gold” (Genesis 13:2). Abram returned to the place between Bethel and Hai (Ai) where he had previously built an altar, and there he called upon the name of the LORD . Lot, who traveled with Abram, had also accumulated flocks, herds, and tents. Their possessions became so great that the land could not adequately support both households together. As a result, strife arose between Abram’s herdmen and Lot’s herdmen . Rather than allowing the conflict to grow, Abram sought peace. Although Abram was the elder and the one to whom God had given the promise, he allowed Lot to choose where he would live. Lot looked toward the well-watered plain of Jordan and chose it for himself. He journeyed east and eventually pitched his tent toward Sodom . Script...

In His Image - Genesis Bible Study Back to the Beginning - Chapter by Chapter, Verse by Verse Genesis Chapter 1 - In the Beginning Genesis Chapter 1 takes us to the beginning of God's revealed account of creation. Before the generations of mankind, before the nations, before Abraham, Israel, the Law, or the prophets, Scripture opens by declaring God as Creator In this chapter, we will slow down and examine the creation account carefully, paying attention to what the text actually says, the order of creation, God's spoken commands, the repeated expressions throughout the chapter, and mankind's creation in the image and likeness of God.  Genesis 1:1 (KJV) "In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth."  Observation  The Bible begins with God. Genesis does not begin by attempting to prove that God exists; it begins with the declaration of what God did: "In the beginning God created." The opening verse immediately establishes three foundational trut...
