  Ephesians 1:7 . “In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace.” (KJV) 1. “In whom” All blessings come only in Christ —our union with Him is the channel of redemption. Outside of Christ there is no redemption; inside of Him, we have every spiritual blessing. 2. “We have redemption” Redemption (Greek: apolutrōsis ) means deliverance or liberation by payment of a ransom. In the ancient world, it referred to buying a slave’s freedom. Spiritually, it means Christ purchased us out of bondage to sin, death, and Satan (John 8:34–36; 1 Cor. 6:20). Note the present tense: “we have redemption.” This is not a future hope only—it is a present reality for believers. 3. “Through His blood” The price of redemption was not silver or gold but the precious blood of Christ (1 Pet. 1:18–19).
