 God was adamant about giving Abram’s seed a land because the land was part of His covenant purpose: it provided a home for the nation, a setting for God’s presence and worship, and the earthly place through which the promised Messiah would come. But Scripture distinguishes between the land promised to Abraham’s physical descendants and the greater inheritance received through Christ. 1. Why did Abram’s seed need its own land? The land demonstrated God’s covenant faithfulness Abram owned no country when God called him.
