Orpah

Women of the Bible Orpah  There was a man of Bethlehemjudah that went to sojourn in the country of Moab.  He, his wife, and his two sons.  The man's name was Elimelech and his wife name was Naomi and his two sons, Mahlon and Chilion.  They were Ephrathites of Bethlehemjudah. Naomi's husband died and she was left with two sons, and her sons took of the women of Moab to marry, one was named Orpah and the name of the other was Ruth. Soon after, Mahlon and Chilion died leaving Naomi with two daughters.  And Naomi wanted to go the the land of Moab because she had heard how the Lord had visited his people in giving bread. So, she  encouraged her daughters in law to return home to their mother's house, Ruth stayed, but Orpah kissed her mother-in-law and returned to her mother's house to her people and to her god. What does it mean to turn back, to doubt, and turn back? 

Hagar The Egyptian

Women of the Bible Speak His Word Only shares with you another Woman of the Bible, Hagar ,  her name is translated, Flight. she was Sarai's (Sarah) Egyptian, handmaid  who was given to Abraham by Sarai to bear a son for her, seeing that she was unable to bare any children of her own. As Hagar progressed in her pregnancy, she began to disrespect her mistress,  After Sarai confronted Hagar's disrespect, Hagar ran away from her mistress into the wilderness.   And the angel of the LORD found her by a fountain of water in the wilderness, by the fountain in the way to Shur.  And the angel of the LORD said to her, Return to your mistress, and submit yourself under her hands  And the angel of the LORD said to her, I will multiply your seed exceedingly, that it shall not be numbered for multitude.   And the angel of the LORD said to her, Behold, you are with child, and shall bear a son, and shall call his name Ishmael; because the LORD has heard your affliction.  And he will

She is a christian woman, a Jewess and believer who was married to a Greek II Timothy 1:5 When I call to remembrance the unfeigned faith that is in thee, which dwelt first in thy grandmother Lois, and thy mother Eunice; and I am persuaded that in thee also.

Her name is Gomer and it is translated is completion.  A time is coming when all wickedness will come to its complete end.  She is the wife of the prophet Hosea, a wife of whoredoms.  She was symbolic for God's chosen people when they strayed away from him.  She bare Hosea three children, Jezreel, Lo Ruhamah, Lo Ammi.

Women of the Bible Her name is Jochebed , translated Jehovah- glorified, to be glorious.  She is the daughter of Levi and her husband's name was Amram and she bare three children  Aaron and Moses, and Miriam their sister. Jehovah is truly glorified in this mother who birth three children that served the Lord in ministry.

The Daughters of Zelophehad

Women of the Bible Stand Up for What is Rightfully Yours- You Inheritance  Then came the daughters of Zelophehad, of the families of Manasseh the son of Joseph: and these are the names of his daughters; Mahlah, Noah, and Hoglah, and Milcah, and Tirzah.  The daughters of Zelophehad  And what did these women do, they speak right about what was rightfully theirs. In Numbers, we see that the land of the children of Israel is divided by lot, The Bible says,   Notwithstanding the land shall be divided by lot: according to the names of the tribes of their fathers they shall inherit. Only problem, Zelophehad had no sons to inherit his lot.  And the daughters knowing this, went to Moses and said,  Our father died in the wilderness, and he was not in the company of them that gathered themselves together against the LORD in the company of Korah; but died in his own sin, and had no sons.  Why should the name of our father be done away from among his family, because he have no son? Midwives- Puah and Shiphrah

Women of the Bible Puah and Shiphrah midwives to the Hebrew children Speak his word only is bringing to you word for word from the book of Exodus two women of the bible Puah and Shiphrah. I would like to show the translation of their names because the meaning of their names say so much about their characters. Puah name is translated, to glitter, and Shiphrah name is translated, brightness, to glisten.  What is so   beautiful about these two women is that they loved the Lord.  They are mentioned in the book of Exodus, when the children of Israel were in bondage in Egypt.  A new king had arisen that did not know Joseph's God, but what he did know was that the children of Israel were growing and multiplying, becoming more and mightier then he. This made the king fearful, that if the land broke out in war, the children of Israel would join his enemies and fight against him.
