Isaiah 9:6 - Unto Us a Child Is Born
“For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counseller, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.” — Isaiah 9:6, KJV Isaiah 9:6 is a prophetic declaration of the coming Messiah and His kingdom . In its historical setting, Isaiah was speaking to people surrounded by darkness, warfare, and uncertainty. Yet God promised that darkness would not have the final word. A Child would come who would reign. “Unto us a child is born” emphasizes His true humanity. He would enter human history through birth. “Unto us a son is given” emphasizes that this Child is also God's gracious gift.
