“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ.” Ephesians 1:3 (KJV) 1. The Structure of the Verse “Blessed be God…” – This is a doxology, a statement of praise. Paul begins his letter not with requests but with worship. The word blessed here means to speak well of or to praise . Paul magnifies God as the source of all blessings. “The God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ” – Paul roots blessings in relationship. God is revealed not in abstract terms but as the Father, through whom Christ mediates all grace. “Who has blessed us…” – Notice the past tense . The blessings are already given, secured in Christ.
