Hagar The Egyptian

Women of the Bible

purple flowersSpeak His Word Only shares with you another Woman of the Bible, Hagar, her name is translated, Flight.
she was Sarai's (Sarah) Egyptian, handmaid  who was given to Abraham by Sarai to bear a son for her, seeing that she was unable to bare any children of her own. As Hagar progressed in her pregnancy, she began to disrespect her mistress,  After Sarai confronted Hagar's disrespect, Hagar ran away from her mistress into the wilderness.  And the angel of the LORD found her by a fountain of water in the wilderness, by the fountain in the way to Shur.
And the angel of the LORD said to her, Return to your mistress, and submit yourself under her hands  And the angel of the LORD said to her, I will multiply your seed exceedingly, that it shall not be numbered for multitude.   And the angel of the LORD said to her, Behold, you are with child, and shall bear a son, and shall call his name Ishmael; because the LORD has heard your affliction.  And he will be a wild man; his hand will be against every man, and every man's hand against him; and he shall dwell in the presence of all his brethren.   And she called the name of the LORD that spoke to her, You God sees me: for she said, Have I also here looked after him that see me?  Wherefore the well was called Beerlahairoi; behold, it is between Kadesh and Bered.
And Hagar bare Abram a son: and Abram called his son's name, which Hagar bare, Ishmael.
