Women of the Bible

Puah and Shiphrah midwives to the Hebrew children

Speak his word only is bringing to you word for word from the book of Exodus

two women of the bible Puah and Shiphrah.
I would like to show the translation of their names because the meaning of their names say so much about their characters.
Puah name is translated, to glitter, and Shiphrah name is translated, brightness, to glisten.  What is so   beautiful about these two women is that they loved the Lord.  They are mentioned in the book of Exodus, when the children of Israel were in bondage in Egypt.  A new king had arisen that did not know Joseph's God, but what he did know was that the children of Israel were growing and multiplying, becoming more and mightier then he. This made the king fearful, that if the land broke out in war, the children of Israel would join his enemies and fight against him.

So, to stop the children of Israel from growing and increasing, the king went to the midwives of the Hebrew children, Puah and Shiphrah, and ordered them to kill every male child that came through the matrix. This did not set well with these two women, who feared and loved the LORD, who's God was not a god of Egypt, but the creator of Egypt, heaven and earth, and these women shinned with the light of the glory of their God.

Instead of killing the male boys, as the king of Egypt commanded them, they saved the men children alive. And the king of Egypt called for the midwives, and said to them, Why have you done this thing, and have saved the men children alive?  And the midwives said to Pharaoh, Because the Hebrew women are not as the Egyptian women; for they are lively, and because of this, the midwives continued to deliver the male boys for them. Therefore God dealt well with the midwives: and the people multiplied, and waxed very mighty.

Man cannot destroy the plan that God has for his people. His seed must continue on.  The devil cannot altar or change the will of God, and God's people must stand strong in the face of opposition, no matter whose face it is.
