The Two Trees in the Garden of Eden

The Two Trees: Life or Death?

Objective: To understand the spiritual significance of the Tree of Life and the Tree of Knowledge of good and Evil, and to apply their lessons in daily life.

Introduction

Genesis 2:8-17 - God places two trees in the garden.

Key question: Why two trees?

Life is always a choice - between dependence on God and self- rule.

Overview of the Trees

Tree Meaning

Tree of Life Life from God, fellowship, grace

Tree of Knowledge Self- rule, independence, pride

A. Spiritual Lessons

Tree of Life: Trust, obedience, dependence on God, eternal perspective

Tree of knowledge: Pride: rebellion, self-reliance, short - term gain- long -term loss

B. Prophetic Interpretation - The Two Trees

1. Tree of Life

Represents God's eternal covenant with humanity

Prophetic vision: Jesus restores access to life (Rev 22:2)

symbolizes the coming kingdom where God's presence heals nations.

spiritual takeaway: God's life-giving Spirit is available to those who obey, trust, and walk, with Him.

2. Tree of Knowledge of good and Evil

Prophetic warning: Humanity's attempte to self -govern leads to destruction.

Symbolizes systems of pride, law without love, rebellion, and worldly wisdom.

spiritual takeaway: choosing self over God delays or blocks life, but God always provide a way back

3. The Two Trees in End-Time Perspective

Believers are called to feed on the Tree of Life, not worldly wisdom.

Nations and individuals choosing the wrong "tree" experience judgment.

God's prophetic plan: All who trust in Christ will regain access to eternal life
