Selaphiel the Angel of Prayer - Jesus Our Mediator

Selaphiel and the ministry of prayer

Selaphiel, also called Salathiel, is described in some Christian traditions as an archangel who encourages prayer. He is often pictured with his head bowed and hands folded. The Bible does not name Selaphiel or assign him that role, so this description belongs to church tradition rather than a direct biblical teaching. Orthodox Church in America

Scripture speaks directly about Jesus’ intercession. Hebrews 7:25 says that Christ “ever liveth to make intercession” for those who come to God through Him. Romans 8:34 places Him at the Father’s right hand, interceding for us, and 1 Timothy 2:5 calls Him the “one mediator between God and men.” Bible Gateway

It is therefore more precise to say that Jesus fulfills our need for a mediator, rather than that He took over a biblical office once held by Selaphiel. We can pray to the Father through Christ with confidence because the risen Lord Himself intercedes for us.
