Ruth the Moabitess

Women of the Bible

Her name is translated, Friend, she is the daughter-in-law of Naomi out of the country of Moab.  And when Naomi's husband had died, then her two sons, Naomi pleaded with her two daughters in- law- to return to the house of their mothers,  Ophra returned, but Ruth refused to go.

For she (Ruth) pleaded with her mother-in-law not to send her back home to her people, or stop her from  following her, for she said, I will not leave you, or stop following after you. Ruth said,  for where you go, I will go; and where you lodge, I will lodge: your people shall be my people, and your God my God: Where you die, will I die, and there will I be buried: the LORD do so to me, and more also, and the only thing that will part us will be death.
following her, for she said,

the name Ruth written on a sunset backgroundSome people follow after fame, fortune and some follow wealth, but not Ruth, this woman of the Bible.  Naomi had nothing else to give this woman, after the death of her husband and her two sons, and she was going back to the country of Moab: because she had heard in the country of Moab how that the LORD had visited his people in giving them bread.

But God had a plan for Ruth.  Ruth saw something in her mother-in-law that was more real and genuine than what she could of had found returning home to her people. What Ruth saw in her mother-in-law, was a woman who that truly loved her God, and this is what she followed after.

And because she made Namoi's God her God, God blessed her to be in the genealogy line of Jesus Christ

She became the wife of Boaz and she bare him a son Obed of whom her mother-in-law nursed.    She is the mother of Obed, and he grew up to become the father of  Jesse who became the father of David.

She took the child and laid it in her bosom and became nurse to the child of Ruth and Boaz
