Abigail A Woman in the Bible

Women of the Bible
A Woman of Beauty and Understanding

Such a blessed woman to have both beauty and understanding
When a believer is married to an unbeliever

Her name is Abeegahyil in the Hebrew and is translated Abigail, which means, Father of Joy.  The Bible describes Abigail as a woman of good understanding, and of a beautiful countenance: The Bible also tells us that she had a husband and his name was Nable.  Nable is translated Nawbawl, and it means, stupid, wicked, foolish, a vile person. The Bible describes him as being a man that was churlish and evil in his doings; and he was of the house of Caleb.

I've heard it said that opposites attract, here you have a wife that is exceeding joy, who is  married to a  man that is evil, stubborn and hardhearted, but then, there are many marriages like Abigail and Nable, where the wife serves the LORD ( go to church), and the husband stays at home. But in this marriage they are pleased to be with each other;  the scripture say's in the New Testament,   If any brother has a wife that believes not, and she be pleased to dwell with him, let him not put her away.  And the woman which has an husband that believes not, and if he be pleased to dwell with her, let her not leave him.   For the unbelieving husband is sanctified by the wife, and the unbelieving wife is sanctified by the husband:
 ( I Corinthians 7:12-14)

When Davis sent his messengers to Nable to ask provision from him, Nable 's responded foolish,  hardhearted and stubborn to David's request.  David therefore determined that Nable was not a friend, but an enemy,, Nable and all his household, and David the king and his army was on their way to kill Nable and all his household, But Abigail, a woman of understanding, gathered the provisions for David and his army, and she hurried to the king before he reached Nable. When Abigail saw David, she fell before David on her face, and bowed herself to the ground, and asked the king to forgive her foolish husband, David forgave the folly of her husband and accepted the provisions from her hand.
