Rhoda A Woman in the Bible

Women of the Bible

Her name is Rhoda, and it is translated, Rose.
When Peter was in prison, prayers was made for him without ceasing by the church. And the Lord sent his angel, and delivered Peter out of the hand of Herod, and from all the expectation of the people of the Jews.

The angel led him to the iron gate that lead to the city which opened to him and he came to the house of Mary the mother of John, whose surname was Mark; where many were gathered together praying.  And as Peter knocked at the door of the gate, a damsel came to hearken (or to ask who was there), named Rhoda. And when she knew Peter's voice, she opened not the gate for gladness, but ran in, and told how Peter stood at the gate.

And they said to her, You are mad. But she constantly affirmed that it was even so. Then said they, It is his angel,  But Peter continued knocking: and when they had opened the door, and saw him, they were astonished.
