Bath-Sheba, Daughter of an Oath

Bath- Sheba and it is translated, " Daughter of an Oath," She is the wife of Uriah the Hittite, Whom David saw as she was bathing and took her for himself.  Having taken another man's wife, and finding pregnant, David tried to cover up what he had done by bring Uriah home from war, so that it would seem like he had gotten his own wife pregnant.  But Uriah did not cooperate with David's plans, so David had Uriah sent to the front line in battle to be killed.  With Uriah dead, David was then able to take Bath-Sheba as his wife.  Bath-Sheba was a faithful and helpful wife, she secured the throne for her son Solomon.

Daughter of an Oath. An oat is to promise or declare to act in a certain way, made with God as a witness.  Bathsheba made an oath with her husband, Uriah the Hittite, but she broke that oath.  The pain and hurt that she encountered for breaking her oath with Uriah probably led her to be a more faithful wife to David.

She is an example to show us that God does forgive our pass mistakes, our pass sins, and move us on to greater things in him.  So, stop looking at what you've done wrong in the past, even if it was yesterday, and look to God who wipes away those stupid things we have done and moves us on to greater things in him.  God knows what he was doing when he called you.  He is GREATER than your mistakes.

God raised Bathsheba up to be the mother of Solomon, God could of had chosen one of David's other wives, but he didn't, he blessed Bathsheba to be the mother of Solomon, the wisest man ever, even after what she had done.  God is not looking at our past, so stop focusing on it, and look to God who knows your future.
