Women of the Bible
Her name is Sapphire. She is the wife of Ananias.
Her husband sold a possession of land and give all the proceeds to the church, but decided to kept a part of the proceeds, and his wife Sapphire knew of what he had done. Ananias brought only part of the proceeds and laid it at the apostles' feet.
But Peter said, Ananias, why has Satan filled your heart to lie to the Holy Ghost, and to keep back part of the price of the land? Peter exposed his lie, And Ananias hearing these words fell down, and gave up the ghost: and great fear came on all them that heard these things.
Three hours later his wife came in, not knowing what had happen, and Peter asked her, did she a sell the land for this amount? and she answered yes; Then Peter said to her, How is it that you have agreed together (with your husband) to tempt the Spirit of the Lord? behold, the feet of them which have buried your husband are at the door, and shall carry you out.
Then fell she down straightway at his feet, and yielded up the ghost: and the young men came in, and found her dead, and, carrying her forth, buried her by her husband. (Acts 5)
